A train in Tokyo. A word that stayed. The first Say? sketches.
We are an anonymous creative collective. Our names stay private so the work can meet you on its own terms.

We make metch as a collective. Each person brings a different way of seeing, but we choose to keep our individual identities outside the work. A name, a public profile or a following should not decide what a garment means before you have had a chance to look at it. The piece comes first. Its character has to be present in the work itself.
Travel is part of our shared inspiration, particularly journeys through Europe. Personal memory is another. Some ideas begin with an image or a relationship between colours. Others arrive through an experience that changes the importance of an ordinary word. We give those beginnings room to develop into a visual language shared across the collection.
Say? has a specific, personal beginning. One of our artists was travelling on a train in Tokyo with his stepdaughter when she became unwell and kept saying “say”. He began the first sketches while she was in hospital. For him, the design carries courage, health and the impulse to act. The artist remains anonymous. The meaning he brings to the work is there to be shared.
Across the collection, we look at how a mark changes with its setting. The harvest scene moves between a chest, the lower back and a label. Green feels different against off-white and black. The same greeting takes on another tone in blush pink. Each piece has its own relationships to resolve, and its own way of belonging to the metch world.
We want the story to bring you closer to those decisions. Look at the full silhouette, then at the small details. Turn the garment around. Notice the parts intended first for the wearer. There is room for an artist's intention and for whatever meaning the piece gathers in your life. That encounter is what we want to put at the centre of metch.
